Sign Petition e-7709: Halt the Dredging

I've recently joined the Inlet Collective, and the first thing I want to share here is a petition that's open right now.

Petition e-7709 calls on the federal government to halt dredging until two things happen: proper Indigenous consent is sought, and complete cumulative effects assessments are carried out.

Both of those words matter. Consent, not consultation after the decision is made. And cumulative, because the inlet has never been harmed by one project at a time. It's been harmed by decades of them, each approved as though it were the only one, each assessed as if the last hadn't happened. That's how a place gets taken apart without anyone ever signing off on taking it apart.

Signing takes two minutes. It's a House of Commons e-petition, so you'll get a confirmation email you need to click, otherwise your signature doesn't count.
